The Disappeared

I finished The Disappeared the other day, and only recently discovered that it was part of a series surrounding the character Joe Pickett. It's actually the 18th book!! I trusted the hype this book received and jumped right in (once it finally came off my Libby waitlist), without really having any clue what it would entail. That being said, The Disappeared is a mystery book that falls game warden, Joe Pickett, in his pursuit of a British CEO that mysteriously goes missing following her week long stay at a luxury dude ranch in Wyoming. Amidst his struggles to uncover the truth surrounding the disappearance, he gets roped into another interesting case.

I wish I would have read some of the previous books on Joe Pickett, and then I might have enjoyed this one a bit more. While the mystery was intriguing, I had a hard time connecting with the characters and setting, therefore distancing me from following the plot as closely as I might have otherwise.
