Ready Player One

"Ready Player One" by Ernest Cine was a much different book than what I've recently been reading. While I do love a good futuristic adventure novel, I typically gravitate towards memoirs. However, I absolutely loved this book. I found myself desperately rooting for troubled main character, Wade Watts, and his quest to find Halliday's "easter egg" within the OASIS virtual reality game. The person to first find the "easter egg," will win Halliday's, the deceased creator of OASIS, fortune and control over the game. It was an eerie dive into a novel that was set in the year 2024 with the planet essentially a mess because resources have been exhausted. In order to escape the misery of their reality, many citizens spend the majority of their time in OASIS, where your identity remains anonymous. Kids could even withdrawal from real school, and instead enroll in school inside OASIS. Crazy concept...but nonetheless, intriguing. I found the ending to be a bit expected, but overall, it was still a great read.
