Brain On Fire: My Month of Madness

08/24/2018

This book was incredible. It's hard to believe that something so severe happened to Susannah Cahalan, a young reporter for the New York Post, without any warning or medical trigger. Now, a survivor of anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, Susannah works to spread awareness in hopes of ensuring people receive accurate diagnosis, as well as timely treatment.

One of my favorite things about Susannah's story, was the strength and dedication of both her parents and boyfriend. Despite their harrowing fears and the terrifying unknowns surrounding their loved one's illness, they stuck together to ensure she never felt alone, and that she was getting the best care possible. Everyone involved in her journey went through immense stress and worry watching her bizarre symptoms strengthen and pain her. Susannah's story is mind boggling and full of strength, determination, and courage by all those involved.

This book makes it into my top ten books read in 2018!
